Sunni Cleric Lauds Supreme Leader's Fatwa on Religious Values TEHRAN (FNA)- A religious advisor to the Iranian president on Saturday praised the religious edict (Fatwa) recently issued by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, in which he strongly prohibited insult to the values and sanctities of other religious sects. | ![]() |
"If it weren't for the wise fatwa of the Supreme Leader on the necessity of avoiding insult ( penghinaan ) to the others' sanctities, the Islamic Ummah (community) would be entangled ( dilibatkan ) in a new plot which could not be controlled easily," President Ahmadinejad's Advisor for Sunni Affairs Mowlavi Eshaq Madani told FNA.
He called on the Muslims worldwide to take the opportunity presented by the leader's fatwa and enhance (meningkatkan) solidarity and unity among all the different Muslim faiths.
"Islam's power, greatness and grandeur (kemegahan) will be shown to the world once there is unity among Islamic nations," Madani noted.
"Muslims, including Sunnis and Shiites and other Islamic sects are facing common enemies, therefore, they should stick with unity and solidarity in a bid to gain victory (kemenangan) over them," he noted.
Earlier this month, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei in response to a question asked by one of his religious followers announced: "insulting ( menghina ) the symbols of the Sunni brothers, including the Prophet Muhammad's wife (Aisha) is forbidden. This includes the women of all prophets and especially the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)."
The fatwa was widely welcomed in the Islamic World.
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has repeatedly called on Islamic countries to keep vigilant ( waspada ) about the US and Zionists' plots, warning that enemies of Islam are seeking to sow discord ( perselisihan ) among Muslims.
"Whenever Muslims come close to each other, the American and Zionist agents lurk ( mengintai ) to create a rift ( keretakan ) among them through different religious, ethnic, sectarian excuses and other pretexts ( dalih ) ," Ayatollah Khamenei said in remarks ( komentar ) earlier this month.
He cautioned that colonial powers are making vigorous attempts ( kuat upaya ) to find the weak points of the Muslims and infiltrate ( menyusup ) the Islamic world, and described unity as the serious need of Muslims to encounter ( pertemuan ) enemies' plots.
The Leader urged ( mendesak ) Muslim countries to keep vigilant ( waspada ) against enemies' plots and conspiracies, and added, "Otherwise, Islam will be hit by the arrogant (sombong ) enemies."
"The Muslim nations and governments should vigilantly ( ketelitian ) understand the deeply-rooted need of the Muslim world for understanding, sympathy and cooperation, and remain committed and loyal to the means and requirements of unity," Ayatollah Khamenei stressed.
